FAQ – frequently asked questions
Do I need a SIM card? /How are SMS sent?
A SIM card is not absolutely necessary.
A SIM card is only required for emergency use or if no other option for Internet access is available. The connection to the Internet is then established via a surf stick (4G modem).
SMS are sent from the MELBOX server.
How often do I have to change the battery? How long does the MELBOX work without mains power?
The battery is charged very carefully in the MELBOX and protected from deep discharge.
The current battery voltage is shown on the display on the overview page or in the configuration interface.
This allows you to easily check the vitality of the battery.
For customers with annual service contracts, the technicians at Nagl Elektronik do this.
If there is a power failure, MELBOX reports this and continues to work for 4 – 6 hours.
After that, MELBOX reports that the connection to the device has been lost.
Is there any operational monitoring of the MELBOX? What happens if the Internet fails?
If the MELBOX loses contact with the server, the server reports the interruption to the stored group after 20 minutes.
The MELBOX tries to reestablish contact with the server via Ethernet (cable), WLAN and surf stick (4G modem).
Can employees be exempted from reporting outside of working hours?
Time slots can be configured for each day of the week for each individual person.
Even entire days of the week (e.g. Saturday and Sunday) can be excluded from the sending of messages.
